Community Guidelines

Gold Prospector is a community of enthusiasts who share a love for the outdoors, gold prospecting, and the thrill of the hunt. These guidelines exist to keep the community welcoming, useful, and safe. By using the App's community features, you agree to follow them.

1. Be Respectful

Treat every member with respect — even when you disagree. Healthy debate is welcome; personal attacks, harassment, and abuse are not.

We do not tolerate:

• Harassment or threats directed at any user
• Hate speech or slurs targeting race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic
• Bullying, intimidation, or coordinated pile-ons
• Sharing private or identifying information about others without their consent (doxxing)

2. Keep It Legal and Safe

Prospecting comes with real-world consequences. We take the following seriously:

• No promoting illegal prospecting. Do not encourage trespassing, jumping claims, or prospecting on protected land.
• Don't expose other prospectors' spots. If someone shares a find, do not post their precise GPS coordinates or location identifiers without their explicit permission.
• Be honest about claim and land status. Don't claim public land is private, or vice versa, to keep others out of an area or trick them into trespassing.
• Verify before sharing tips. If you don't know whether something is legal in your state, say so rather than presenting it as fact.
• No instructions for harm. Do not post content that explains how to harm yourself, others, animals, or the environment.

3. Photos, Videos, and Content

The community thrives on photos and stories. Please post in good faith:

• Only post content you own or have explicit permission to share
• Don't post identifying photos of other people without their consent — including faces, license plates, or anything that could expose someone's location
• No graphic violence, gore, or content that's deliberately disturbing
• No nudity, sexual content, or content that sexualizes minors — ever
• No copyrighted media (movie clips, song lyrics, branded characters) you don't have rights to
• No watermarks or imagery falsely associating Gold Prospector with other brands

4. Honest Posts About Finds

The Gold Prospector community runs on shared knowledge. Please be honest:

• Don't fake gold finds. Don't pose other materials, manipulate photos, or stage finds to mislead the community.
• Don't sell or trade through community posts unless we add a marketplace feature in the future. Direct commercial solicitation is not the purpose of this space.
• Don't post obvious AI-generated images as real photos. AI imagery in posts must be clearly labeled.

5. Direct Messages

Private messages between users are subject to the same rules as public posts. Specifically:

• No harassment, threats, or abuse, even in private
• No solicitation of minors
• No spam, scams, or attempts to phish for personal information
• Messages are scanned by automated moderation. Severe violations may result in account suspension or termination.

6. Reporting and Enforcement

If you see content or behavior that violates these guidelines, you can report it directly within the App:

• Tap the menu (⋯) on a post or comment and select "Report"
• Reported content is removed pending review
• Repeated false reports may result in restrictions on your own account

We use automated moderation as a first line of defense, but real reports from real users help us catch what algorithms miss.

When violations are confirmed, our response may include:

• Removing the offending content
• Issuing a warning
• Temporarily suspending the account
• Permanently banning the account for severe or repeated violations

We make these calls at our discretion. We don't pre-announce specific thresholds because doing so just helps bad actors stay just under the line.

7. Account Integrity

• One account per person. Don't create alternate accounts to evade bans or amplify your own posts.
• Don't impersonate other users, public figures, or brands.
• Don't use bots, scripts, or automation to interact with the community.
• Don't try to manipulate the gamification system (XP, badges, streaks) through artificial activity.
• Don't sell or transfer your account.

8. The Spirit of the Rules

These guidelines can't anticipate every situation. The shorter version is:

• Treat others how you'd want to be treated on a difficult day
• Don't make the community worse to make yourself feel better
• If you're not sure whether something crosses a line, it probably does

We reserve the right to remove content or take account action even when something doesn't fit a specific rule, if it clearly goes against the spirit of a respectful, useful prospecting community.
